Incorporation date
The incorporation date is the day a corporation's certificate of incorporation takes effect, the moment it becomes a separate legal entity from the people who own it. It starts the clock on the company's first fiscal year, and the corporation chooses its first year-end within 53 weeks of that date. That single choice fixes the filing deadline for the first T2 return and every one after it, so it is worth making deliberately rather than defaulting to December 31.
