Year's Additional Maximum Pensionable Earnings (YAMPE)

The Year's Additional Maximum Pensionable Earnings (YAMPE) is the second, higher ceiling that caps contributions under the CPP2 tier, set at $85,000 for 2026. CPP2 applies only to pensionable earnings between the YMPE of $74,600 and this higher ceiling, capping the maximum CPP2 contribution for each of the employee and employer at $416.00. It was introduced alongside CPP2 to let higher earners build additional retirement benefit on a slice of pay the base plan does not reach. Our guide to CPP2 walks through how the two ceilings work together.
