T4 Slip
A T4 is the year-end slip an employer issues to every employee, summarising employment income for the year along with the income tax, CPP and EI that was withheld. Employees rely on it to file their personal tax return, so the figures must match what was actually deducted and remitted. Employers prepare a T4 for each worker, file the slips with a summary to the Canada Revenue Agency, and give copies to staff after the calendar year ends. Year-end slips are part of the payroll cycle we walk through in our Alberta payroll guide.
